Back to Basics ~ Death Perspectives

“A good portion of philosophers believed that the body is mortal and the soul is immortal.” I have to say, this is what I believe and feel to be true also.

Now, in order to believe this, one must first believe that we have a soul. (energy contained within) Believe me, I have come across many who don’t believe in souls or the energy within the body. I don’t think I will dive into this area right here and now. Buddhists don’t believe in a soul perse but have a different word (atman or self) for the soul and ideas about it. They do, however, believe in reincarnation. There again, you will need to believe that there is some form of energy/soul/mind that continues on after physical death.

Muslims believe that when a human being dies, their soul returns to their creator, awaiting the Day of Judgment. According to the Vedas, a collection of revered Hindu texts, all beings are souls and thus spiritual in nature. The body is temporary and eventually dies. The soul is eternal. Hindus also believe in reincarnation. Judaism is famously ambiguous about this matter. The immortality of the soul, the world to come, and the resurrection of the dead all feature prominently in Jewish tradition, but exactly what these things are and how they relate to each is vague. Generally speaking, Japanese believe in the existence of another life after death. Christians believe that in heaven, you will be in the presence of God forever. Heaven is not considered a physical place by Christians. Instead, it is a state of being.

We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” Pierre Teilhard

For everything born
Death is certain.
And for everything that dies
Birth is certain.
May I have the wisdom
Never to grieve
Over the unavoidable.
Marcus Aurelius

I found this website (listed below) many years ago, 2015 to be exact. I had moved to Alberta and was contemplating the abortion I had 10 years earlier. Which had been prompted by a medium giving me a message from a child that was mine. Being the researcher I am, I asked Google. And found this site that has a chapter on the death experience of children. It has been a great resource and help for many people I have come across that need such information.

I do not want to convince you of anything or change any beliefs that you hold. I simply share some of the many ideas, philosophies, and perspectives that are out in this world. If you reflect on your own beliefs and decide that you would like to transform or revamp your belief system, then that is entirely up to you. All of these ideas are created by man. It is undeniable how there is a thread that runs through them all. A golden rule when it comes to looking at death.

Who or what will be carried on to the afterlife, or be reincarnated? Everything in nature comes back around. It all has a birth, growth, and death cycle. Why shouldn’t we? I suppose there is no way to find out.

This is another website I found helpful around the same time. There are many great resources on many topics. http://www.healpastlives.com/home.htm

We live in accordance with our deep, driving desire. It is this desire at the time of death that determines what our next life is to be. We will continue back to Earth to work out the satisfaction of that desire. But not those who are free from desire. They are free because all their desires have found fulfillment in the Self. They do not die like others; but realizing Brahman, they merge in Brahman! * The Upanishads

“Die before you Die” Rumi It means to live fully like you would as if you had but a few breaths left to take. Just imagine how intense and alive those few moments would feel because you would be fully present in those moments.

“The secret to life is to die before you die – and realize there is no death.” Eckhart Tolle
